District Administration Kangra took effective steps for the safety of trackers Dharamshala, July 17. Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa said that in view of the incidents of missing of trackers in District Kangra, the district administration has taken an important step to ensure the safety and monitoring of the persons doing trekking. He said that check posts have been set up at the starting points of the 10 most used trekking routes in Kangra district. Trained disaster friends and other volunteers have been appointed at these check posts, who will compulsorily register each tracker. The purpose of this arrangement is to keep a real time record of the trackers, so that quick assistance can be provided in case of emergency. Check posts have been set up at Salli, Nauhali, Gallu Temple, Khadota Village, Kand Kadiyana, Jiya, Thala, Nanahar, Uttarala Power Project, Rajgundha. To give legal form to this security process, orders have been issued by the District Magistrate under the Disaster Management Act, according to which now trekking without registration on these 10 identified trekking routes is prohibited. Any person found trekking without registration will face legal action under the Disaster Management Act. The district administration requests all trekking lovers and tour operators to cooperate in this initiative and follow the rules completely. This step has been taken in public interest so that any kind of unfortunate incident can be prevented during trekking.
